“I have known and worked with Ted in various capacities over the course of the past decade. As an actor I was directed by him in Inwood Shakespeare Festival’s productions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2003) and Henry V (2005), and had the pleasure of working alongside Ted as his assistant director on The Merchant of Venice (2009). Ted brings out the best in his actors, helping actors tell a story until the material is sharp, specific, clear, compelling and connected. As a coach and director, he works to help the actor reach her highest mark at that particular time, classical or contemporary. In particular Ted’s background and experience with Shakespeare’s Folio texts is extensive and impressive; he had the rare opportunity to work with Patrick Tucker as he was developing First Folio technique in 1975, and to continue his exploration of Shakespeare’s Folio texts through workshops with the ‘forefathers’ of Folio technique: Patrick Tucker, John Basil, and John Barton. As a result of this work, Ted is keen at helping actors learn to unlock the exciting and inspiring acting clues that are intrinsic in Shakespeare’s texts.”                                                      -Chaya Gordon-Bland, Artistic Director, South Dakota Shakespeare Festival
